The Sandvik Coromant CoroDrill 856 series jobber length drill bit is made from solid carbide with a diamond coating and has a 130-degree point for use in general-purpose dry drilling applications on composite materials, such as resin-rich CFRP, thermoset plastics, and materials with a glass skin. The 130-degree point has a dual cutting point that prolongs the tool life and prevents delamination of the composite being drilled. Solid carbide is harder than high-speed or cobalt steel, provides longer tool life at higher speeds, and produces close-tolerance holes in hard materials. The diamond coating provides a low-friction surface for extended tool life. This jobber length drill bit has a versatile midrange drilling depth of 4 to 5 times its diameter and is a common choice for general-purpose applications.
